We've already described how to configure sliders on a tracking page in the previous article.
Now, let's explore how you can use Products Feed from your store as slider items. To do so, here are the two simple steps to follow:
Step 1. Prepare Product Feed on your store
Products Feed should have the format of Facebook Products Feed XML to use in sliders on the tracking pages. There are many custom applications/extensions/plugins for different eCommerce systems that allow the creation of Facebook Products Feed XML. Follow this article on how to do it easily with Shopify.
We recommend using the following applications/extensions/plugins:
Shopify: https://apps.shopify.com/facebook-product-catalog
WooCommerce: https://wordpress.org/plugins/webappick-product-feed-for-woocommerce
To be sure your sliders look good using the product feed, please confirm each item in the feed contains the following fields.
Required:
- link - is used for buttons in a slider. When clicking on the Buy Now button it will redirect to that link.
- image_link - the image URL is used for the slider item's image. Use HTTPS for image URLs to be sure your images will not be blocked on a tracking age.
- title - the name of the product
Optional:
- price - the regular price of the product
- sale_price - the discounted price of the product
Step 2. Upload Product Feed to a slider
Start by clicking the Tracking Pages button (1) where you are. Then click the Visual Builder button (2) on the desired page if you have more than one. This will take you to the visual builder page.
Navigate to the Main Content Slider in the Visual Builder menu or click inside near the frame of the slider on the Main Content Block.
Click the Add Product Feed button.
Paste the copied product feed URL to the input field and press the Verify button.
If your feed is accessible and valid you should see two green succeed icons Accessible and Verified. Press the Save button.
Please confirm that the items from the feed were imported, are being used for the slider, and are visible in the list.
As you can see from the screenshot, you have the Feed Url with Edit and Delete icons and the Fetch Feed Items button.
Note! Only the first 30 items from the feed will be used. Items from the feed update each day automatically. If you made any changes in your feed and want to see changes in the slider ASAP, press the Fetch Feed Items button and items will be updated (1).
Finally, press the Save button (2) in the Sidebar menu.
Follow the same steps to add product feed to the Sidebar Slider.
Troubleshooting
1. Products Feed Url is not Accessible.
Possible issues:
- Incorrect URL - make sure you enter the correct URL.
- URL is password protected and requires authentication - remove password protection for the Feed URL.
- Requests to the Feed URL are blocked by the firewall - add trackmage.com to the firewall exceptions list.
2. Products Feed Url is not Verified
Possible issues:
- the Feed URL is empty (does not contain items) - check the settings of the application/extension/plugin in your shopping cart, try another application/extension/plugin
- the Feed URL contains items with missed required fields Link, Image_link, Title - make sure the products you use for the feed have correct data, check the settings of the application/extension/plugin in your shopping cart, try another application/extension/plugin
3. Images are not loaded in the slider.
Possible issues:
- The image URL is wrong - check you have the correct image for the product in your shopping cart and URL is pointed to the image.
- The image URL is blocked by CORS policy - make sure HTTPS is enabled on your shopping cart and it is used for image URLs.
